What 10 Days have Revealed To UK fans!

It's hasn't been two weeks yet since Billy Gillispie was named UK coach.....in fact it's 10 days today......yet, in this short time frame UK fans have seen their new coach exhibit incredible energy and passion as he sells UK basketball to recruits and Asst coaches. We are seeing a blur of activity from Gillispie.....he seems to be everywhere.....talking to and text messaging recruits.....evaluating Pettigrew.......meeting with the Patterson's........holding a press conference......appearing on a number of national sport talk shows......filling his staff with the very best asst coaches. In 10 days UK fans are getting a glimpse of what has been missing from UK basketball for yrs. We all wish Tubby well at Minnesota, but can anyone deny that under Tubby the last few yrs has seen a program devoid of energy and passion.

Now, the sun is shining again.....UK fans are going crazy with excitement and anticipation of a bright new future for UK basketball......a future of once again being among the nations elite.

Tubby, for whatever reason, seemed unwilling to really sell the magnificence, tradition, history and UK fan passion...... of UK basketball. Now that has totally changed in 10 short days. UK fans now have a coach who is as passionate and crazy about UK basketball as they are......a coach who can't wait to sell UK basketball to anyone who will listen.

Make no mistake.....Billy Gillispie.....was the right hire......he will succeed and lead UK back to it's rightful place among the very top programs in America. Having said that, it is very important that all UK fans understand how far the UK program has fallen and that it will take Gillispie 2-3 yrs to restore UK to it's greatness. Next yr will be exciting as Gillispie puts his mark on this program.....next yrs team will play harder and smarter, but it will struggle at times due to a weak front line. Gillispie will soon correct the poor and unbalanced recruiting that Tubby left for Gillispie to inherit.

So, next season will be a bright new beginning.....a start down the road toward a return to greatness for UK basketball. Billy G will take UK to the mountain top.....we, as UK fans, have to unite behind Billy G as he climbs toward an 8th UK national championship!
