Two UK greats Beard and Kron funerals set

Two former University of Kentucky mens basketball greats Ralph Beard and Tommy Kron funeral services have been set for Monday in Louisville, Ky. Both players play under Coach Rupp, Beard was a member of the 1948 and 1949 NCAA Championship teams while Tommy Kron was on the 1966 NCAA National Runner-up team better known as "Rupps Runt". Both players will be missed by the University of Kentucky and the Kentucky fans.


Services for Ralph Beard are set for 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel at the Pearson-Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road in Louisville. Visitation is at the funeral home from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Beard is survived by his wife, Bettye Scott Beard; two sons, Scott Beard and Mike Beard; a daughter, Jill Hubbuch; and six grandchildren.





Services for Tommy Kron are set for 1 p.m. Monday at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 6710 Wolf Pen Branch Road, Louisville with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Pearson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and did not have a complete list of survivors.
