My thoughts on UK's improvement

Let me list a few positives about this UK team:

1. Jasper is more offensive minded. How many threes did he take and hit last year. This year he is pulling people away from the basket and/or making them pay if the don't.
2. When at any time in his career has Joe Crawford every played defense. He is this year and it will help him get into the NBA developmental league or somewhere overseas.
3. Wasn't it nice to see Ramon Harris break the press using his ball handling during the Florida game? Yes. Will he get better? Yes. Will BCG recruit better players over him. Yes.
4. Isn't it wonderful to see our guards throw the ball into PP more often? Yes. They are finally getting it. Hit him when he's open. The problem is that when he gets into foul trouble there's no one to sub for him.
5. Wasn't it great to see Perry Stevenson attack the rim against Florida? Absolutely. He will learn to play defense without fouling someday.

Whether some are ready to admit it or not, this team is beginning to jell. Yes it will be mid-February for it to really come together (that's if Meeks and Jasper can stay healthy and practice instead of just playing during games).

Unfortunately, the roster is what it is. Legion leaving didn't hurt this team because it is guard heavy. What is killing this team is the lack of a center, a quality backup and forwards that compliment PP. He will get better when the defense has to play honest. Right now, opponents can basically whip the cats if they take him out of the equation and contain our point guard.

This is not your normal cat talent, but it will be in a couple of seasons. The teams that are feasting on cat now, because the CATS will be providing the ....whippings in the future.

Until then, root for the team, support the coach--he's doing the best he can with what he has to work with.
