Just got to thinking about this camp, and a couple of things really sticks out to me about where we're headin.
One is the fact that this camp is actually taking place. Its to bad, it hasn't been taken for granted by the previous staffs, considering all that UK has to offer.
Second, we have a coach that has not only organized it, but set it up to benefit UK for many, many years to come. UK Elite Camp will definitely become a distinct honor for HS players to list on their resume.
And, It basically sets up the foundation of a mindset, "either get on the train, or get ran over by it". I realize that other teams hold a version of an "elite" camp. But other teams also play ball. The point being.., they ain't UK. They can't do it like us. No matter how much money they spend, or who they hire.
Our Coaching staff sends a great deal of invitations out each year, however its up to the recruits, to accept and come. I have to believe, that the more recruiting and overall success that Gillispie has, it will directly benefit this endeavor. Our Elite Camp, is going to become try-outs for Gillispie and UK. Literally.
As a UK fan, I really can't express in words, how much I appreciate Coach Gillispie for using our facilities, environment, and everything else Kentucky has to offer. Not just to sell it, but to get them here and see/experienced it for themselves.
